Reykjavik Welcomes You Back To Life

As life slowly returns, a world full of post-pandemic firsts awaits you. It could be your first time wearing jeans again, or your first time eating in a restaurant. Or, how about your first vacation?

It’s safe to say holidays will never be taken for granted again, and no matter where your first vacation takes you, it needs to make up for lost time and reawaken the feeling of being alive. And with this return to normal life, vacation-starved tourists will no doubt flock to the popular destinations we’ve all missed. But if you’re ready to be re-energized and experience travelling in a profound new way, consider Iceland’s capital city, Reykjavik, as a destination that offers all the unforgettable firsts you’re after.

Reykjavik by day

Despite being the world’s most northern capital city, exploring Iceland’s economic and cultural heart is easy thanks to its year-round mild climate. Reykjavik is also among the cleanest, greenest, and safest cities in the world. This makes exploring attractions like Alþingishúsið, the Icelandic parliament building, and Austurvöllur, a park in central Reykjavík, known for its restaurants and bars, even better. Be sure to get in some self-care at a nearby hot spring where pale blue lagoon waters and black lava rocks provide the most spectacular backdrop to your vacation selfies.

A nightlife like no other

Getting in some R&R is a good idea as Reykjavik is famous for its nightlife with over a hundred cafes, bars and clubs on Laugavegur, the city’s main strip that fills up after midnight on most weekends and goes until 4:30 a.m.! Adding to the city’s vibrancy, Iceland’s biggest music festival, Iceland Airwaves, rocks the city every fall creating an incredible festival atmosphere. Stay for New Year’s Eve and watch the people of Reykjavik light up the city with a jaw-dropping display of fireworks.

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s to make the most of every moment, and your first vacation should be no exception. Rejuvenate yourself in Reykjavík through endless outdoor, cultural and evening experiences that will certainly welcome you back to life.
